While they demand entirely different skill sets, both represent the ultimate test of a rider’s soul.
To celebrate these two worlds colliding, Broom Mill Farm is hosting the Broom Mill Bike Bash on Saturday, 22nd August 2026. It is your chance to meet Britain’s leading Dakar racer, North Yorkshire's own Robbie Wallace, fresh off his incredible golden run in Saudi Arabia!

Dakar vs. Isle of Man TT: Two Flavors of Extreme
How do you compare a 5,000-mile marathon through shifting desert sands to a 130+ mph fly-by through narrow country roads? Here is how they stack up:

The Dakar Rally, however, is a slow-burning torture test. It doesn't just test your speed; it grinds down your body, starves you of sleep, and forces you to rebuild your own motorcycle in the dark after crashing at 90 mph.
Robbie Wallace: A True Dakar Warrior
To understand just how brutal the Dakar is, look no further than local hero Robbie Wallace.
Working as an overhead lines engineer for Northern Powergrid by day, Robbie took on the 2026 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia and achieved the ultimate dream: bringing home a coveted Dakar Finisher's Gold Medal!
His journey was the definition of "grueling":
The Crash & The Bug: Halfway through the 5,000-mile race, Robbie suffered a massive crash that severely injured his back. Soon after, he was struck down by a brutal sickness bug.
No Mechanics Allowed: During the legendary 1,000 km "Marathon" stages, Robbie had to sleep under the stars in a one-man tent, ration his food, and completely service his KTM 450 bike himself.
The Result: Despite the agony, he pushed through to finish as the Top British Motorbike Competitor (43rd overall)!
